Well, it is that time of year again. Time for thunderstorms, tornado watches, and rain by the buckets. Thankfully we are all safe and school/work went on as usual. I am glad not to have to have makeup days so close to the end of the year. I do think there may be some wind damage to the roof but it is minor if I am observing correctly. I will check it out more closely this weekend.

Today I took my 3 kids with me to tour and discuss a Montessori school. We are considering private school bc public school has so many issues these days in FL. Aside from the torrential downpour, high winds that shook the car, and tornado warnings in neighboring counties, we made it to the appointment. The owners were great. They were knowledgeable about learning, nature, math, child development, etc. They had a great grasp of Maria Montessori and her methods. They had animals including chickens, peacocks, horses, and other wild animals that they did not own but that frequent their 2 acres. The owners checking to see if they have room for our two older kids. If so, then we need to send them back on different days to spend a half day there. Then I have to go back and observe on yet another day. I am nervous to make a choice, but definitely think private school is best at this point and Montessori allows for growth beyond the child's grade level. We will see what happens.

Thankfully baby's eyes are considered normal right now. The dr said it had to do with asymmetry in the face/nose area. We are to call if anything changes and to come back in a year if things are the same.:) Now to get rid of that pesky ear infection/respiratory infection he has!

Since baby was born I noticed his eyes do not track the same way. They seem to look in similar but not the same trajectory. I teach and have been a nanny as well as a child care worker so I am usually able to tell what is an issue and what isn't. The pediatrician said something about his pupils being fine but that doesn't answer why his eyes aren't tracking correctly. So today I called infantsee.org. They referred me to a free infant eye assessment at a local eye dr office. We will go in two weeks. Hopefully everything is fine.
Since early winter baby has had breakouts of eczema that never completely go away. Now we are trying, per doctor orders, a casein gluten and soy free diet. Since I nurse this includes my diet as well. Since I am allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds/oil, and fish plus am a vegetarian this has been a difficult task. I am constantly craving things like pizza and roast beef. I saw a nutritionist who helped a ton. I am feeling better than last week, no more headaches. Baby's rash has subsided in the two weeks since we began the diet so I am ready to add things back in order to establish what the true problem is.
I haven't been online in a while. Life gets too busy. My son is nearly 10 mo old and is now not only crawling everywhere but also pushing a walking toy everywhere as well. He loves to eat dog food if given the opportunity and to laugh at his two big sisters. He has two teeth and is close to getting two more as well. It is so fun to watch baby and sisters learn and grow!
